Susan was sitting in the kitchen, holding a carrot out to Katherine. Katherine had recently been turned into a pure norn by an ettin who had used the HoloDeck, and had not eaten for a while. "Push food" Susan pleaded.

Katherine looked at the carrot. Then she got that little scared look on her face, and shouted, "Run food!" She then turned and ran from the carrot, right into the wall. But, being a norn, she didn't care that she was running into a wall, so she kept running, even though it hurt. Susan sighed and laid her head on the table. This was totally impossible.

Just then, Blip floated in. "Hey, Susan.." He called, "Come look at what the people on the newsgroup said."

Susan raised her head up. "Oh, all right. I hope this works..." She picked up Katherine, saving her from the wrath of that scary carrot, and carried her to the computer.

Jenna was sitting in front of the keyboard, trying to read. "You-" she started, slowly, "should...put...her..back...on...that...thingie..." Then she shook her head. "Reading is so hard!"

"Is that what they came up with?" Susan asked. She leaned over Jenna, and clicked through the messages.

"Yeah, most of them do, don't they." Susan began to turn around so she could place Katherine back on the HoloDeck, just to see if it'd work. But there, standing on the HoloDeck, was another Ettin.

"You really need to be careful with this thing." The Ettin announced. "Any creature off the Internet can just unzip themselves and teleport to this room." Everyone stood there in awe. Had Ellen come back to claim Karr? "Wait-a-minute!" Giggled the Ettin. "You think I'm Ellen, don't you? She's my granddaughter. I'm Nitte, the original Ettin. I'm here because we got a bad rap in the last story." Susan stepped back. "What are you going to do?"

Nitte looked around. "Well, I was going to sue, but I didn't want to mess with lawyers. So I decided it would be easier to come back and help out Katherine." Then she turned to the tube Katherine had put on the HoloDeck to allow it to teach norns real English. "This is what caused all that trouble? I bet I can rig it so that nothing like this ever happens again." She began to open up the small box and tweak the wires.

Susan walked over to Nitte and peeked over her shoulder. "What are you doing?"

Blip flew near. "She's rewiring the CPU so that it can't be dialed by an ISP and transfer files, and making a human/norn transformer mode." He offered.

"It's official, I am the only one it the world who doesn't understand this stuff." Sighed Susan.

"Done." Called Nitte. She closed the box. "Now, just get Katherine on the HoloDeck, put the tube on, and you should be OK. Susan did so, and fired up the HoloDeck. A light flashed, puff of smoke or so puffed, and there, was the original, totally human Katherine.

"THAT," she announced, "was too weird. All my thoughts were in norn! I couldn't even think English!"

"What?" Jenna hopped down from the computer. "Humans might not know this, but we can understand English, even if we can't speak it."

Nitte thought a second. "Then Ellen must've turned you into a stereotypical norn, or one that can't truly think for itself. Some creatures just don't understand that even though other creatures may be simple, they think and feel like anyone else." Then she turned to Katherine. "Would you mind terribly if I stayed in your computer? I can't go back to my web site, even though there's a copy of me there."

"Anytime." Replied Katherine. She then used the HoloDeck to send Nitte to Albia.
